Short Description
One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), covers all 38 districts to promote local specialities. The programme focuses on branding and scaling indigenous products like Makhana (Fox Nut), which is the ODOP for multiple districts as Bihar produces nearly 90% of the world's supply.
Objective
- Enable holistic socio-economic development across all 38 districts of Bihar.
- Identify and brand unique indigenous products to increase their international market competitiveness.
- Generate local employment opportunities and promote rural entrepreneurship to reduce migration.
- Provide technical training and capacity building to modernise traditional processing methods.
Benefits / Subsidy
- Credit-linked capital subsidy of 35% of the project cost (maximum
lakh per unit).

- Access to shared facilities like cold storage, testing labs, and incubation centres for groups like SHGs and FPOs.

- Support of up to Rs. 40,000 per member of Self Help Groups (SHGs) for working capital and small tools.

- Grants for branding and common packaging to help products reach retail chains and global markets.
Eligibility
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Minimum educational qualification of 8th standard pass is usually required.
Open to individuals, partnership firms, FPOs, Cooperatives, and SHGs.
New units must strictly process the designated ODOP product of their district (e.g., Makhana in Purnia, Tea in Kishanganj).
Documents Required
- Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, and Voter ID.
- A Detailed Project Report (DPR) outlining the business plan and estimated costs.
- Udyam Registration, FSSAI license (for existing units), and partnership deeds if applicable.
- Bank statements for the last 6 months and proof of ownership or lease for the business premises.
- Passport-sized photographs and caste certificate (if claiming reserved category benefits).
